How easy is it to self sabotage?
Think about it: the painter who is never quite finished. The songwriter who just can’t get the melody right. The poet who continues to tweak every line. The story writer who is forever working on one paragraph.
The people who are constantly in this mode I think are self-sabotaging their chances. They’re nervous about rejection. It’s safer to not be done than to be finished and for everyone to hate it. Or worse, for no one to care at all. That’s part of the risk in being a creative person.
At some point, I think the work has to be completed or abandoned for something else. Just for clarity of purpose. Just for a fresh perspective. Just to move on.
Don’t accidentally self sabotage yourself.
