I didn’t read the book ‘Gone Girl.’
But I generally like David Fincher’s films, so I want to see the movie.
I also want to know what happens before I go.
‘Gone Girl’ has a complex plot that Gillian Flynn expertly put together and in the hands of David Fincher, I know they’ll be tons of film making expertise. So I’d rather admire the craft. I’d rather see how the characters develop and the clues that are laid out, to see how they connect to the end. I’d rather admire what Fincher is doing than try and track all the action.
I can only do that effectively when I know how it’s going to end.
I told this to a few people and they asked a simple question: Why don’t you just watch it twice?
I very rarely watch movies twice or read any books more than once. Once I get it, I get it, and I’d rather a lot of time pass before diving back into something.
And why do I need to watch it twice when I can just get the ending and watch the movie how I want to watch it?
No, I haven’t seen it yet…but feel free to tell mew what happens.
