Hey, so some of you may know that I’ve been loosely associated with the Internet writing phenomenon Alt Lit. I started this site, this one too to monitor the “alt lit trend” and then some people have found this piece really helpful.
Anyway, the publishers Civil Coping Mechanisms and Lazy Fascist Press are teaming up to release 40 Likely To Die Before 40 in June. It’s basically an alt lit anthology that they’re hoping is a defining book (just guessing on this last part). They’re closing submissions this week (…I think) and I know they have some tough choices to make.
I decided to make up my own list, with a few caveats. This is just who I would include at this moment. Everything gets complicated because some people are more critics than writers, curators than poets, etc. And some people hate the term, others love it–so who knows who’s in and who’s out? Anyway, these are the people that I think are influencing the movement or have been instrumental in its development. Some people have published more than others, which I think is an important factor.
(Remember: I have no inside information, I’m not involved in this process whatsoever).
*Spoiler Alert, there are more than 40 names.*
