You know what it’s like. You’ve seen the rejection letters pile up, or the Submittable queue that just reads “declined” rather than accepted. You hear about the crazy stories of people getting published after querying 80 or 90 agents. Yes, so many of us have a job we don’t like as much because we feel like writing and getting published is hard.
And we’re right.
It’s harder to be a creative writer than a professional athlete.
More competitive than sales or real estate agents.
The one job that’s more competitive?
According to this post from Business Insider, it’s being a choreographer.
Remember, it genuinely is difficult. Think about how much dancers and athletes talk about training. And we just expect to sit down and be inspired. The athletes and dancers are inspired too. They love what they do, but they don’t just walk out there without stretching and practicing. Writers have to do the same thing. Because it’s that difficult.
